Menchov wins Giro on Giant! PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 03 June 2009 13:31

Rabobank rider Denis Menchov has won the Giro d'Italia on a Giant TCR Advanced SL. For full race coverage, see this page on Cycling News http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2009//giro09/?id=default.

In a rare move, Giant has made available a limited number of team replica bikes available in Australasia. The team issue TCR Advanced SL is available in very limited numbers. For a full spec, see http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-AU/bikes/road/2327/35810/. Suffice to say, if you need to ask the price of these, you probably can't afford one. However a more accessable option is available. The 105-equipped TCR Advanced has identical graphics to the team issue bike, is a slight upgrade on the TCR Advanced 2 and is the same price at $4599. Crank it Cycles has secured two of this limited edition. For more details see this article.

Last month, Manawatu Mountain Bike Club members and other guests were treated to a presentation at Crank It Cycles by a family cycle touring around the world. After 8 years (with two or three off along the way, to raise Chan, aged 5, and earn some money) they are on their way through New Zealand. Rebekka, Florian and Chan were noticed around the Manawatu as they made their way along with two adult bikes, one child's bike in tow and a child trailer.

You can check their progress on their blog which is updated monthly. It covers their whole journey, relating some exciting adventures and features some awesome photos.
