Despite the cold weather, there's plenty to do! Bike Manawatu staged a successful 6 hour relay at Manfield. This year the weather was much more conducive to an enjoyable social time. There were some impressive performances at the front of the field, while Phil and some friends in team "Business as Usual" did it in style on their retro commuter bikes complete with their glad rags and a baguette for a baton. See the event page for results and photos. The Manawatu Mountain Bike Club ran the inaugural iBike4kids, an event to encourage and inspire kids about biking. Along with a huge team of enthusiastic volunteers, Steve and Phil set up the shop tent to do free bike checks and present the awesome prizes supplied in conjunction with Specialized bicycles and Bulletproof scooters. With record numbers and lots of smiles, this looks set to be a regular event. The Mountain Bike Club is running its winter series out at Santoft forest, with record attendances so far. No wonder, the tracks are great to ride in the winter and the friendly atmosphere at the event makes for a great day out with the family. The relatively mild winter has made for good progress to the new trails at the new Arapuke park at the end of Kahuterawa Road. Check them out, but not just after a lot of rain, the trails are better for more people riding them. Read on for information about winter products and promotions! |
