Mark "Cabin" Leishman

Cabin has served on the Crank It team as our second mechanic and the sales team. He brought a wealth of his own professional mountain biking experience to Crank It Cycles. Cabin is a NZ representative triathlete, former director/rider of the Giant Bicycles supported “Aunt Betty’s” Cycling Team, and is now racing the international Xterra adventure racing circuit.

Cabin’s rides have included the insanely light 2007 Giant Anthem XC racer as well as an equally featherweight 2007 Giant TCR road racer, and the Gary Fisher Superfly 29er.

Nowadays he rides Niner bikes, which make 29er frames exclusively. His current bike is a Jet which he rode to his maiden Karapoti victory in March 2009.

Now "semi-retired", he is working as the BikeNZ cycling co-ordinator in Rotorua.

Nic Leary

Having only started Mountainbiking in 2007 and with a background as a representative runner, Hockey, and Rugby player Nic only became interested in XTERRA after watching DVD footage of partner Mark "Cabin" Leishman's forays into the international scene late last year.

Already a formidable mutli-sport athlete, Nic has quickly built up an impressive list of podium Mt Bike placings and is the current NZ XTerra Champion and has a top 25 world Mt Bike ranking.

Nic has recently gained sponsorship by Avanti bikes but we're proud to have sold her her first mountain bike.

K-Loop Krusties

Some have to go out and buy a Harley, but for several Manawatu Mountain Bikers their version of growing old disgracefully is to compete in team relay events. Despite drinking too much beer and suffering from delusions of grandeur, they have managed to notch up no less than half a dozen podium places in the Moonride and the Day Night Thriller in the last few years.

More recently, they have been assisted with sponsorship from Jill Meyer at ReMax Real Estate and Crank It Cycles.
Riders who have worn the illustrious Krusties colours include Crank It's Phil Etheridge and John Leiswyn, Colin Knight, Mike Kelly, Barry Jowett, Dave Bishop, Blair Waghorn and Gary Hall.
