Nightlites 900 Lumen look-alikes are available online and being sold on Trade Me but they are vastly inferior to the genuine article
The Nightlites we sell are the Real McCoy. They are cheap, but not nasty! The ones available online have the following disadvantages:
-
30 day warranty (if you believe the trader) ours carry 12 months
-
Poorly-sealed battery β the ends are just cardboard
-
Low quality Chinese cells in the batteries
-
Inferior battery pouch = no easy way tro secure to bike
-
Insecure cable connectors = not as water-resistant
-
Early-generation lamp = driver circuit prone to blowing (the heat sink is inadequate and makes overheating more likely)
-
Thinner internal wires between driver and LED = poorer performance
-
Lower βbinβ LED = lower light output
-
No tabs on the mounting rings = harder to mount and remove
-
No grip on the head unit = prone to moving while in use esp. off-road
-
No purpose-made helmet mount included
-
The charger is not an approved unit β if it causes a fire, your insurance could be jeopardised
-
It's up to you to decide whether you think you'll be able to get spares in a few months, let alone a couple of years, time
